Telling me to fly and be free, hoping I
Don't see death sooner than necessary
Living my life to the full is absolutely mandatory
Have my eyes to the sky, I envision God's light
Shining over my pupils, as they struggle with sight
It's so bright, my future what about yours?
Constantly staying afloat, determined to beat the devil's allure
Pure of mind, yet like a demon I write
To see change come sooner in increments aligned
With the truth, I live courageously, my Pheonix Rise
Excellence, no substitute my best guideline
Toward success, counteracting this imbalance
That has been created to throw off this persistent black man
Strong I stand, fearlessly like the man my father raised me to be
Breathing deep when trouble arises, proceeding to be free...
