I still have so much to learn
Do my best to stay on top, a man in control
A man of God, I fear Him only
Knowing I'm concious of my actions
The possibility I might upset Him
I have choosen strong intelligent faith
Over leftist conservatism
And too serious committment to religion
Aware of the social implications that
Exist against my people
A universal man, with black conciousness
True to self, yet respect all, balanced
Once a person of blind optimism
I am no longer that
Believing everything in life
Will work out for the best
I have choosen to be hopeful knowing not all
Things will go the way they should
Yet in still the heart of life is good
There's such a thing as too much
If anything I am not at all
But too much self love, too much intelligence
Too much strength, giving spirit, too much ambition
I can co-sign to that
I believe God has choosen me, to bring change for folks
Optimism sounds good, but I've choosen hope...
